Hope Artists' Guild: Mandate and membership information

Our Mandate is to encourage aspiring artists of all ages and abilities to pursue their artistic endeavors and to provide a vehicle for local artists to promote and sell their work.

We are a non-profit co-operative; therefore “the Gallery” depends on volunteer help to continue to function. Please be aware that the following procedures are in place. It may be to your advantage to read the information listed below before paying your membership fee.

1.   A person can become a Guild member upon acceptance by the membership at a monthly meeting, after a presentation of their work and by paying a yearly fee of $35.00 (our fiscal year runs from January 1st to December 31st). All memberships are due by Feb 28th otherwise a late charge of an additional $10 will be levied.
2.   A member is expected to put in a minimum of eight (8) hrs volunteer time at the gallery per month. **If for some reason, as a member you cannot put in 3-4 shifts per month it is possible that other arrangements could be made (i.e. One member cuts our grass as his volunteer time).
3.   Members will pay a 20% commission on all sales of their artworks to “The Gallery”. Those who don’t work pay more or will be asked to remove their items from the gallery.
4.   All members are to attend at least six(6) meetings per year to keep abreast of the activities being planned. Guild meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month in the Gallery meeting room at 7:00pm.
5.   Members are expected to follow all policy procedures set out in the minutes by the membership and Guild Executive.
****Non Members are persons who pay for a wall or floor space every month, and who also pay a 30% commission on their artwork sales.
**** Associate Members pay a yearly $25.00 fee and are considered “A Patron of the Arts”. The two above mentioned have no voting power.
